As cold weather moves in, so can feelings of depression and isolation. This winter, Senior Life Solutions provides four steps to warm up and combat the winter blues.
Step 1. Keep a Routine
Keeping a routine helps you make time to do the things you love and create time for healthy habits. Set those alarms, note in those planners, and make time for yourself!
Step 2. Keep Moving
Any type of exercise is useful, as long as it suits you and you do enough of it. Regular exercise has been proven to boost your mood and combat feelings of depression and anxiety.
Walking in place, yoga, and tai-chi can all be safe in-door activities perfect for winter months.
Step 3. Let the Light in
Vitamin D has been found to play an important role in regulating mood and warding off depression. Make sure to let the light in this winter and soak up that vitamin D!
Step 4. Reach out for Support
You are not alone. When times get tough, don't do it alone. Reach out to family, friends, neighbors, online groups, community groups, or seek professional supports.
Senior Life Solutions wants you to know that you are not alone. If you would like more information, education, or would like to discuss support, please call: 530.283.7131
